Raphinha has hit back at a dig made by Tim Krul a couple of years ago following Leeds United’s 2-1 win away at Norwich City.
The Brazilian once again stood out for the Whites and was the deserved recipient of the Man of the Match award at Carrow Road.
He scored the game’s opening goal before Rodrigo netted the winner in a mad four-minute spell where Andrew Omobamidele had briefly brought the Canaries back on level terms.
Leeds held on for a vital win on the East coast which lifted them out of the relegation zone.
After the match, Raphinha took to social media to address an antagonising claim made by Krul back in February 2019 following Norwich’s 3-1 win at Elland Road.
In a Daily Mail article from two and half years ago, Krul was quoted claiming that Leeds ‘are not Barcelona’.
How Raphinha discovered the article remains to be seen but he was sure to acknowledge it on social media.
Posting a screenshot of the webpage to his Instagram story, the 24-year-old added ‘No, we are not Barcelona. We are Leeds United.’
While Krul’s comment was made in 2019, it ultimately came back to bite him as he allowed a fairly routine strike from Rodrigo to squirm beneath him and into the back of the net.
It extended Norwich’s torrid start to the season as they have picked up just two points from their opening 10 games and sit rock bottom of the Premier League.
Meanwhile, it was a massive result for Leeds who were able to elevate themselves out of the drop zone after Burnley’s win on Saturday left them 18th for less than 24 hours.
