Raphinha reveals his Leeds United aim is Champions League qualification at Elland Road

Raphinha is currently away on international duty with Brazil as the Seleção prepare to face arch-rivals Argentina this evening.

The Leeds United forward has been in excellent form this season, scoring five goals in ten league games for the Whites.

For his country, the 24-year-old already has two goals and two assists to his name, announcing himself in some style last month.

Speaking to Spanish outlet AS, the Brazilian talisman has revealed his hopes at both club and international level, including an ambitious claim about Leeds United.

Translated by Twitter user Joe Brennan (@j4brennan), Raphinha said: "From my first days at the club, I already saw how special Bielsa was.

"He is a guy who works a lot, who knows a lot about soccer. He is the typical professional who dedicates 100% of his time to the institution he represents and we are very lucky that he is our coach. He knows how to get the most out of each one of us. This makes us raise our level."

"I am very happy at Leeds and hopefully we can play the Champions League," he added, when asked if he would like to play Champions League football.

The prospect of European nights at Elland Road is an alluring one, but they remain some way off just yet.

Currently, the task facing Leeds is remaining a Premier League entity for the foreseeable future, in order to benefit from the riches which are bestowed upon clubs in England's top flight.

Internationally, Raphinha has also expressed his delight at being able to represent his country.

"Since I was a child, I always dreamed of playing for the national team, being able to represent my country, my town, my neighborhood, my people. After many years of hard work, I have succeeded and I will do everything possible to continue my career in the national team."

"Tite is a great person," he stated, referring to Brazil's head coach. "[He is] An exemplary professional with a lot of wisdom. He asks me to do what I'm doing at Leeds."

Brazil take on Argentina in the city of San Juan this evening, before Raphinha will travel back to the United Kingdom in order to prepare for Leeds' next fixture against Tottenham Hotspur.
