Raphinha defends Leeds United form but admits dressing room concern following Arsenal defeat

Raphinha has defended Leeds ’ disastrous run of form following their 3-1 defeat at home to Arsenal.

Alarm bells are ringing around Elland Road as the Whites sit just five points above the relegation zone despite playing THREE games more than 18th-placed Burnley.

Those fears are amplified further by the fixture list, with Leeds making the daunting trip to Liverpool on Boxing Day before facing Steven Gerrard’s in-form Aston Villa side two days later.

However, Brazilian talisman Raphinha - one of the only bright sparks from a poor campaign so far - thinks Leeds have been unlucky.

“I don’t think we have played bad football,” he said after the Arsenal defeat.

“I think we have had a lot of bad luck and been unable to finish off games. That’s football.

“The most important thing is getting those wins to put points on the table (so we can) get out of the situation we find ourselves in.”

The 24-year-old admitted there is concern among the dressing room due to their poor run, with Leeds winning just once since October.

Raphinha has recently spoken about his desire to play in the Champions League - a far cry away from where the Whites are currently.

He added: “Of course we look at the situation and the low position in the table and we are concerned about not getting the results we deserve.

“But we know there are a lot of games ahead of us to turn the situation around.”
