Andros Townsend reckons Raphael Varane could take Manchester United one step closer to the title promise land.
The French defender has been linked with a move to Old Trafford as his time with Real Madrid seems to be coming to a close.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking for a quality centre-back to partner Harry Maguire as they look to compete for the Premier League next season.
The Red Devils have already secured the signing of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and they hope Varane will follow shortly after.
And Crystal Palace winger Townsend reckons the stopper could be the final piece to their title puzzle.

Will Raphael Varane be a good signing for Manchester United? Comment below
He told talkSPORT: "If you look at Manchester United’s team, they are very top-heavy.
"They have a lot of forward options and Jadon Sancho will give them another option but Varane, if he does come in, will solidify the back four.
"He will give them extra strength, extra pace and somebody of his calibre is more suited to the Premier League.
"He’s big, he’s strong, he is quick and I definitely think the Varane one takes them closer to where they want to be."
Several clubs will be chasing Varane's signature, but it's clear what his preferred destination would be.
Varane is looking to experience a new challenge after almost a decade in Spain's capital and United would be the ideal landing spot for the defender, according to The Independent.

Paris Saint-Germain is also an option for Varane as he looks to resolve his future following France's shock Euro 2020 exit to Switzerland.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez insists his side have not received any official bids for Varane but it's up to the 28-year-old to directly tell the club he wants to leave them this summer.
He said: “We’ve not received any official bid for Raphael Varane. He’s at the Euros now then we will see what happens - if he wants to leave the club this summer, he’ll say it”.
World Cup winner Frank Leboeuf has questioned why Varane would want to sign for Solskjear's men, however.
He told ESPN: "I like Varane he showed during the world cup of 2018 he was capable of leading the defence and doing a great job.
"But I’m sorry, we’re talking about Ramos and without Ramos Real Madrid’s defence wasn’t the same last season and Varane was leading that defence, so I still have some question marks.
"That (Varane and Harry Maguire) could be a very good couple and they could work very well together because he’s an international player, he has experience.
"We saw him win lots of silverware and he can serve Manchester United. It’s a good signing for Manchester United. Is it for Varane a good signing if he wants to win something? I’m not sure."
