Raphael Varane pictured in Manchester for first time ahead of Man United transfer announcement

Raphael Varane has been pictured in Manchester after learning that he will have to wait to make his Manchester United debut.

United have agreed to sign Varane from Real Madrid, but the transfer has not yet officially been completed and he hasn't been registered in time to face Leeds on Saturday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed on Friday that isolation issues are behind the hold-up in finally announcing the defender, as United fans wait for confirmation that Varane has completed his much-anticipated move.

"He's not trained with us and [we haven't done] all the dots over the 'i's and we haven't crossed the 't's yet," Solskjaer said. "Things happen and things take time and unfortunately with the isolation has delayed these things.

"It's not 100 per cent done, I can say he probably won't be involved tomorrow because he's not trained with us.

"It always happens and there are little things. The big hold up was the isolation and quarantine. He's in Manchester now, hopefully it'll be done soon."

Shortly after those comments, Varane was spotted by MEN photographers as he drove around Alderley Edge in a white BMW and stopped at a petrol station.

After the Leeds game, United face Southampton next week in their first away match of the season.
