Raphael Varane has explained how Manchester United will look to cope without Aaron Wan-Bissaka and captain Harry Maguire.
After losing their opening group-stage fixture, the Old Trafford giants return to Champions League action tonight (8pm) when they take on a plucky Villarreal side who beat them in last season's Europa League final.
United will be without Wan-Bissaka through suspension - after his red card against Young Boys.
Maguire has also been ruled out by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a calf injury that will keep him side-lined for several weeks, while England teammate Luke Shaw picked up a minor knock during that same 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa at Old Trafford this Saturday lunchtime.
In their absence, added responsibility will be put on four-time Champions League winner Varane, who was signed from Real Madrid during the summer window to partner his now-absent £80million captain.
During the pre-match press conference, Varane said: "I think that we will need the whole team. The season is long, there are a lot of games scheduled and we play at high intensity. Every player will be important.
"It does not matter if you are a starter or a substitute. Now, it's sure that, on the pitch, the experienced players will be important to guide the others, also to bring calmness at certain moments during the game.
"What we need is to have a great communication - whichever players are concerned - to acquire rapidly automatic reflexes and to set some landmarks, in order to be defensively close, one to another and, mostly, defend together."

Varane added: "Of course, we are very motivated. For me, the Champions League is always a special competition.
"In addition to that, we play at home - and we really need a victory. So all the ingredients to have a beautiful show and a big game of Champions League are gathered, that is something that we all want as football players.
"So, there is a big, big motivation. We will need the support of our fans and everybody to win."
