Raphael Varane and Paul Pogba send messages after Manchester United training session

Raphael Varane and Paul Pogba both took to Instagram yesterday following the squad's latest training session at Manchester United's Carrington training base.

After officially completing his move to United on Saturday, Varane, who was presented to the supporters ahead of the Reds' 5-1 hammering of Leeds United at Old Trafford, has started to train with his new team-mates this week ahead of Sunday's trip to St Mary's to face Southampton.

The clash with the Saints, who were beaten 3-1 by Everton on the opening day of the season last weekend, could see Varane earn his United debut and act as the beginning of a central-defensive partnership with club captain Harry Maguire, who was partnered at the back by Victor Lindelof against Leeds.

Varane seems destined to start against the Saints as he will have had a full week's worth of training by the time the weekend comes around.

As well as himself being delighted with his move to United, fellow countryman Pogba, who claimed four assists in the Reds' opening day triumph over Leeds, also appears to be enjoying life with his international team-mate at Old Trafford.

That is because, following Wednesday's training session, Pogba, who was granted a free role against Leeds, took to Instagram to upload a photograph of himself and Varane on the training pitch together.

Accompanying the picture with a caption, Pogba wrote: "Another French connection created."

With that said, it could be implied that Pogba is looking forward to playing in the same team as Varane and be looking to build something special in United colours.

Pogba's Instagram post was then followed by one from Varane, who decided to post the exact same image on his account. Alongside the image, Varane said: "Friends @paulpogba," along with the French flag emoji.

It suggests that Pogba has taken Varane under his wing following the latter's recent arrival in England. For Varane, Pogba's position within the United squad will help him recognise a friendly face and help him settle into life in Manchester.

The pair, in truth, will be considered as two of United's most important players now and they will be expected to play key roles in United's expected title push this season.

Varane and Pogba could line-up together for the first time at club level when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's troops face Southampton on Sunday afternoon.
