Raphael Varane agrees to join Manchester United and more transfer rumours

Raphael Varane has verbally agreed to join Manchester United this summer.

That is according to Spanish outlet Sport who claim Varane has ‘given his word’ he will soon arrive at Old Trafford, indicating that he will indeed join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side if Real Madrid and United can reach an agreement over a transfer fee.

It's reported that Madrid's asking price for Varane is actually €60m (£51m) and that United are only willing to pay €45m (£38m) for the Frenchman's signature, which is reminiscent of the noise from Borussia Dortmund's dealings with United over Jadon Sancho recently.

Despite the difference in opinion over a transfer fee for Varane from both sides, the article does claim the centre-back's departure from Madrid in the transfer window is now inevitable and it's believed the player will move to sort his future in the coming weeks.

Varane made a relatively early exit from the European Championship with France and he'll seek to solve the uncertainty hanging over him when he comes back from his holiday - it's worth noting, the 28-year-old has just one year left on his deal at the Bernabeu.

Is Varane the ideal centre-back partner for Maguire? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Regarding any potential departures from United this summer, The Sun report Brighton are planning to swoop for Daniel James and it's believed the Welshman would be open to leaving for pastures new when Sancho's imminent arrival is made official.

United's signing of Sancho could lead to limited first-team opportunities for James, who could rekindle his relationship with former Swansea boss Graham Potter on the South Coast and it's said that could make the move appealing to the 23-year-old winger.
