Rape suspect arrested at Manchester Airport as he tried to board a plane

A rape suspect was arrested at Manchester Airport as he tried to board a plane.

Airport staff contacted police on Sunday morning after their system identified the 32-year-old, from Bradford, West Yorks, as a wanted man.

He was then arrested at the airport before he could board his flight and taken into custody for questioning, YorkshireLive reports.

A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "Police in Bradford were called at 11.27am on Sunday, August 2, by staff at Manchester Airport, alerting us to a man who was wanted for an offence in Bradford, attempting to board a flight.

"Officers attended the airport and arrested a 32-year-old man from Bradford on suspicion of rape and he was taken to custody in Bradford and interviewed.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
