Rape survivor’s husband shot dead in northeast Delhi’s Chand Bagh; hunt on for accused

NEW DELHI: The husband of a rape survivor was shot dead in northeast Delhi’s Chand Bagh on Sunday. No arrest has been made so far.

Police said, that at 12.40am, a call was received at PCR regarding a firing incident in Dayalpur. “Our team rushed to the spot and found that the 35-year-old man was taken to a hospital by his family members,” an officer said adding that he was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.

During probe, the victim’s family members said that two boys came to their house and called the victim by his name. “As the victim went out of the house, the assailants shot him and fled,” the officer added.

Later, cops found that the deceased’s wife is a rape survivor. A case was registered at Loni police station in Ghaziabad this year.

“The family had shifted to a rented accommodation about two-and-a-half months back. The woman also told police that she had received threats from the accused persons (in rape case),” the officer said.
