Rap icon Eminem provides soundtrack for Conor McGregor v Dustin Poirier rematch

Rap icon Eminem has teamed up with the UFC and ESPN to provide the soundtrack to Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier's rematch this month.

Ahead of the UFC 257 headliner, 'Slim Shady' took to Twitter to share a promo for the fight alongside his new single 'Higher'.

Eminem released his new album last month, with the single's use in the promo set to get fans excited for McGregor's eagerly anticipated return.

The Dubliner takes on his old rival in a repeat of their 2014 bout that saw McGregor score a first round KO during his incredible rise to stardom.

And Owen Roddy has claimed that Dustin Poirier doesn't have the defence to combat Conor McGregor's striking prowess.

Striking coach Roddy insists that Poirier 'always gets rocked' by his opponents and is confident that his man can dish out punishment on January 23.

“He’s technically good,” Roddy told The MacLife, when speaking about Poirier.

“He’s good hands, he’s tough, he’s durable and he sets a pace. I think it’s a combination of those things that’s allowed him to have that success. But he always gets rocked in every fight.

“People don’t punch like Conor. His opponents don’t punch like Conor. All Conor needs is a split second. A half an inch to see the shot, and once he bangs the shot, you’re going to be out. You’re going to be on wobbly legs, and if you’re on wobbly legs, it will be the next one that finishes you.

“Poirier gets hit an awful lot, so I believe it’s just a matter of time.

“When Conor hits him, how long can he last after that. Whether he goes to sleep straight or he toughs it out a little bit, but Conor has 25 minutes in there to land on the chin. For me, there’s serious odds.”

Roddy reckons that McGregor can recreate the performance he produced when the pair first met six years ago.

The Dublin fighter rocked Poirier early on on that occasion and finished him within the first round.

“I always say this, it’s going to take Conor maybe a minute or so, two minutes and Conor could see the shot in 10 seconds, you never know,” Roddy added.
