Ranvir Singh 'super happy' as ITV Good Morning Britain role replacement is confirmed

Ranvir Singh has shared her support as her Good Morning Britain replacement has been confirmed. It was reported last month that the 44-year-old TV presenter and journalist left her political role on the ITV news programme in December.

But she is still remaining as one of the show's regular presenters and newsreaders. Ranvir joined the ITV programme during its launch in 2014 as a features correspondent and three years later she became political editor of the ITV show with viewers regularly seeing her outside Westminster.

But with her taking on a more starring role on GMB, as well as regularly filling in for Lorraine Kelly on her self-title ITV show, a new but familiar face is stepping into Ranvir's political role.

Anne Alexander, the Senior Political Producer on GMB, announced on Wednesday (March 16) that Louisa James will instead be seen in the role previously held by Ranvir.

“Delighted that @LouisaJamesITV is joining Good Morning Britain’s politics team as Political Correspondent, taking over from @ranvir01,” she tweeted.

"She’s experienced, hard working and obsessed with politics. Think she’ll do well with me and @kieronishere. Welcome to the (mad) House Louisa."

Ranvir was soon letting her feelings known, responding to the tweet with a party popper and applause emoji before adding: "Super happy about this."

Fellow GMB star Charlotte Hawkins also added: "Great news - congratulations Louisa!!" while Susanna Reid added: "Congratulations @LouisaJamesITV."

But one concerned viewer asked: "I hope @ranvir01 stays with the @GMB she’s top class and the absolute best at what she does! If not, anyone know where she’s heading off too? Would be such a shame to lose her from the show! Either way, best of luck @ranvir01 to whatever you do next."

To which Anne soon cleared up: "Don’t worry. Ranvir isn’t going anywhere! She’s presenting."

ITV viewers will recognise Louisa as the 43-year-old has appeared on GMTV, Daybreak and eventually Good Morning Britain since 2014 where she has been a news correspondent and occasionally a stand-in newsreader on the show.
