Ranvir Singh's Strictly curse hopes after mortifying discovery led to split

Ranvir Singh only ever looked at her husband’s phone once during their marriage - and her worst fears were confirmed.

The Good Morning Britain presenter married Ranjeet Singh Dehal in 2012 and they are parents to young son Tushaan.

Ranvir mostly kept her private life under wraps until she made a shocking confession back in April last year that left GMB viewers with tonnes of questions.

After concerns grew she made the decision to snoop on her husband’s mobile - and made a devastating discovery that would turn her world upside down.

During a debate on whether you should check your partner’s phone, Ranvir dropped a major hint as to why she had split from her husband.

"I have looked at it once," admitted Ranvir, who was then questioned by co-host Ben Shephard as to whether that was why she was no longer with Ranjeet.

“I can’t answer that question,” explained Ranvir, but she went on to give more intimate details into her marriage woes.

Looking uncomfortable, the GMB presenter gave advice to viewers while hinting at her own personal ordeal.

"But can I say I have always thought that if you ever feel you need to do that then the relationship is over because you obviously don’t trust that person,” she explained.

Ranvir was then asked if she found anything incriminating while snooping through her husband’s phone.

"I found something that needed addressing," she cryptically replied.

Giving a further warning to viewers going through a similar situation, Ranvir added: "So I would say you think you don’t need to do it until you do."

Ranvir has remained tight-lipped on her split since that day, keeping her private life under wraps.

But she did confirm that she is definitely single after being announced as a contestant on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

The mum-of-one seemed to hint she wouldn’t mind being rocked by the infamous Strictly curse.

The show has become famous for the celebs splitting from their partners and sometimes hooking up with the pro dancers, which often puts many off joining.

Admitting that it was not an issue for her, Ranvir told GMB viewers: “Well, I am single."

The nerves are already kicking in, with Ranvir’s only previous dancing experience coming from weddings.

Ranvir joked that the only training she had done so far was eating fewer crisps.

Like many of the celebrity contestants, Ranvir will be carrying on with her day job, which means early hours on GMB before heading to the training room.

She said: “I am very thrilled to be on it, thank you. I am worried about sleep deprivation because I am carrying on this job. I am worried about energy levels."

Purely for her own peace of mind, Ranvir said she is looking forward to being regularly tested by the show for COVID-19.

However, she still has no idea what measures will be in place throughout the series and how the cast will self-isolate together.

"I have been working through the whole pandemic, I feel like I ought to have all the answers because my job is to have the answers," admitted the GMB host.

"I haven't been able to [isolate], I've got my son and I've got my mum in my house, but they know my situation and they've accepted it.

"The kids go back to school this week so the country is changing anyway, but the truth is we have got a lot of time until the show goes back on air, it's mid October."

Unaware yet of who she was being partnered with, she said she would need a shorter partner as she is only 5”2.

Summing up her feelings about joining Strictly 2020 in a statement, Ranvir added: "The initial feeling of being confirmed for Strictly is one of complete terror - feels like embarking on a rollercoaster, where you really want to do it but you are equally scared.

"Hopefully after the first dance I will feel exhilarated rather than sick!”
