Ranvir Singh replaces Susanna Reid on ITV Good Morning Britain after thanking viewers on 'last day'

Ranvir Singh has stepped in to replace Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain. The presenter was back at the helm of the ITV news programme on Thursday (July 14) alongside Ben Shephard.

The pair opened the show ready to bring the latest news headlines, debates and entertainment segments that viewers are used to seeing when they tune in on a weekday. It comes the day after Susanna thanked viewers as she spent her 'last day' hosting the show.

Susanna, 51, revealed her summer plans on the news show on Wednesday (July 13) alongside her co-host Ed Balls. She confirmed she would be taking a long break from the show, with her usual summer break taking place over the six-week summer holiday period.

The TV star thanked her colleagues as she revealed she'd be heading off for quite a while as she said: "I am off on holiday - today is my last day for the summer, so..."

Ed questioned if she was "renting a beach hut" prompting Susanna tease that she "may be" and said she wanted to say goodbye to everyone. She went on: "So just want to say thank you to everybody but I leave you in the very capable hands of this wonderful team over the summer."

But getting a bit coy about the attention being on her, Susanna quipped: "However, I'm not off yet, I still have 43 minutes," and she and Ed continued on with the rest of the show.

It comes a week after Ben made a 'different men' jibe at Susanna. During last Thursday's show (July 7), they were joined for the daily entertainment segment by Radzi Chinyanganya who was filling in for the show's showbiz editor Richard Arnold. They were discussing the latest Love Island action which, at the time, was all centred around the Casa Amor drama.

The main topic of conversation was Jacques O'Neill as he let his head be turned away from Paige Thorne and shared more than one kiss with new girl Cheyanne Kerr. The rugby player claimed that he needed to get to know other girls before knowing whether how he feels for Paige is real.

He has since quit the villa amid trying to win the Welsh paramedic back. But Radzi, Susanna, and Ben shared their shock over Jacques' actions during the ITV2 dating show's annual twist. After watching clips of the latest goings-on in Love Island, Susanna looked disgusted, while Ben quipped: "Well it’s important, you gather all the information you possibly can to make a decision. You can’t rush these things, Susanna."

Referring to Jacques' claims, Susanna showed her dismay by repeating: "How do I know if you’re the right person for me if I haven’t tried out all the other people?!" but Ben had the comeback of all comebacks for his co-star. Well you’ve been trying out different men week in week out for months now on this show," he joked.

"Don’t pretend you’re no different to Jacques!" he added as laughs rang out in the studio, including from Kate Garraway who was on hand to read the latest news headlines.
