Ranvir Singh in tears on Lorraine as she thinks of own family during emotional Dr Alex chat

Ranvir Singh was reduced to tears as she hosted Lorraine today.

The Good Morning Britain star is currently filling in for Lorraine Kelly on her self-titled ITV show while she takes her annual summer break.

Ranvir, 43, was speaking to Love Island star and A&E doctor Alex George who was appointed as the government's Youth Mental Health Ambassador earlier this year.

Dr Alex had been campaigning about mental health after his younger brother Llŷr tragically took his own life a year ago, aged 19.

Alex recently marked a year since his brother's death and therefore opened up on how he and his family were coping.

"There have been moments in this last year when I’ve really struggled," he said. "I’m happy to say that.

"We need those people around us to support us.

"There have been times when I’ve had to say 'I’m finding it really tough right now'.

"Resilience is being able to bend and flex, by bringing people into help you and pick yourself up again."

As Ranvir went to bring the interview to a close she appeared visibly moved.

Suddenly choked up, she said speaking to him and hearing of his "pain" made her think of her own family as she began to shed tears.

"I feel quite emotional speaking to you, because we all think of our own families," she said.

"Thank you for everything you’re doing."

She also told him: "I think you're amazing, for what you do with all the pain you've carried. Thank you."

And fans felt the emotion too watching at home.

"Awww absolutely love Ranvir she's so real. Just watched her getting emotional with Dr Alex," tweeted one.

Another said: "#Lorraine #Ranvir @ranvir01 this is why we love you Ranvir . You talk to your guests with enthusiasm and compassion . You really do make this programme worth watching."

"Bless Ranvir #lorraine," a third added.
