Ranvir Singh breaks down as she praises Dr Alex George in moving interview

Ranvir Singh was left fighting back tears on Lorraine on Tuesday, as she choked up during a moving interview with Dr Alex George.

The Love Island star and A&E doctor was appointed as Youth Mental Health Ambassador by the government earlier this year, and he hopes to make huge change and bring mental health education to schools.

Dr Alex had been campaigning about mental health prior to this, and sadly his younger brother Llŷr took his own life a year ago.

A year on, Alex opened up on how he and his family were coping and how the support of others has got him through it.

Wanting to make his brother proud, Alex told Ranvir how the role and the work he has done since being appointed has given him a huge purpose and focus.

As he shared his aims and encouraged people to check on others, as well as urging those who are struggling with their mental health to seek support, he touched on his own struggles.

Alex said he'd told his parents and family, and his new girlfriend Ellie whenever he was finding things tough, whether it be with working during the pandemic, his grief for his brother or his mental health.

He urged others to open up too, saying the support is what has helped him - adding there is no shame in asking for help.

As Ranvir went to wrap up the interview, she appeared emotional as she praised Alex and called him amazing.

Suddenly she choked up as she confessed speaking to him and hearing of his "pain" made her emotional, and made her think of her own family.

She told him: "I think you're amazing, for what you do with all the pain you've carried. Thank you."

In moving scenes, the host then began to cry and told him: "I feel quite emotional speaking to you, cos we all think of our own families. So thank you for everything you're doing."

Alex thanked Ranvir for her words, before the show went to an advert break.

Ranvir and Alex earned support from viewers who took to Twitter after the interview, with one writing: "This is why we love you Ranvir. You talk to your guests with enthusiasm and compassion. You really do make this programme worth watching."

Another added: "Aww bless Ranvir," with the same comment echoed by a third viewer.

Meanwhile, a fourth said: "Awww absolutely love Ranvir she's so real. Just watched her getting emotional with Dr Alex."

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
