The actor has started the first schedule of the film in the city, with the project also marking his debut as a producer. Directed by Jai Mehta, known for ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story’, ‘Pralay’ is being developed as an original survival and action thriller, PTI reported.
The film is expected to combine large-scale action and spectacle with an emotional story centred on human survival. Its narrative reportedly explores themes of courage, resilience and the instinct to protect the people and things that matter most.
Jai Mehta directs Ranveer Singh in ‘Pralay’
Jai Mehta, who worked on the acclaimed series ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story’, is directing ‘Pralay’. The film is being mounted as an ambitious survival thriller with Mumbai serving as its backdrop.
For Ranveer Singh, the project marks another major step in his career, as he takes on production responsibilities alongside his lead role.
Kalyani Priyadarshan joins the cast
Kalyani Priyadarshan is also part of the cast of ‘Pralay’. The actress, who recently appeared in ‘Lokah’, will share the screen with Ranveer Singh in the upcoming film.
‘Pralay’ was initially planned to be shot in Australia, but the production schedule was later shifted to Mumbai. A recent India Today report linked the change to Ranveer Singh's decision to remain close to his wife, Deepika Padukone.
According to the report, Ranveer did not want to spend an extended period away from Deepika as the couple prepares to welcome their second child. The report stated, "Ranveer wants to be around Deepika as they embrace parenthood for the second time. He doesn't want to be away, and hence the production is making arrangements to shift the schedule here in the city."
