The episode marked the first public reunion of Ranveer and Samay since the controversy erupted earlier this year. Following the telecast, Ranveer shared a behind-the-scenes vlog offering a closer look at their interactions before and after the shoot.
The vlog showed light-hearted moments between Ranveer, Samay Raina, and host Kapil Sharma during their pre-show meeting. It also featured the creators recreating their now-viral India’s Got Latent photograph on set, signaling a lighter tone between them after months of public scrutiny.
In the video, Ranveer was seen reflecting on his return to a mainstream stage after a difficult phase. Sitting in his vanity van after the shoot, he shared that hearing the audience cheer for him felt emotional. “It felt good after a long one year of everything,” he said.
He further spoke about the personal significance of appearing on Kapil Sharma’s show, mentioning that his grandfather used to regularly watch it during his final days, making the moment even more meaningful for him. Ranveer also opened up about dealing with online trolling and negativity, stating that he relies heavily on meditation and tries to remain emotionally detached from both highs and lows in his career.
Documentary on the controversy announced
Towards the end of the vlog, Ranveer announced that a detailed documentary on the India’s Got Latent controversy will be released next month. He said the project will chronicle events “day by day” and include everything that happened during the backlash period.
“We are releasing a very detailed Latent documentary next month. Everything that happened during the controversy, day by day, has been recorded,” he said, adding that he wants audience input for the project. He urged viewers to share their perspectives and questions in the comments to help shape the narrative.
Ranveer also stated that his intention behind the documentary is to close that chapter of his life and move forward.
What led to the controversy
The India’s Got Latent controversy began in February 2025 when Ranveer Allahbadia, along with content creators Apoorva Mukhija and Ashish Chanchlani, appeared as panellists on Samay Raina’s show. A remark made by Ranveer during the episode triggered widespread criticism on social media, leading to multiple FIRs against the creators involved.
The fallout had significant consequences. Several episodes of the show were removed from YouTube, Ranveer faced restrictions on podcast uploads, and Apoorva Mukhija reportedly received death threats. The situation gradually eased after the Supreme Court allowed Ranveer to resume his podcasting activities.
In the months that followed, all involved creators gradually returned to content creation. Samay Raina staged a comeback with his stand-up special I Am Still Alive, which went on to become one of the most-watched comedy specials globally.
With the upcoming documentary, Ranveer appears set to revisit one of the most debated controversies in India’s digital entertainment space—this time from his perspective.
