Ranking the QB’s the Philadelphia Eagles will face during the 2020 NFL season

The Philadelphia Eagles have one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL and during their 2020 NFL season they’ll face some of the best signal-callers on the planet.

The Eagles will play their three NFC East opponents (Dal, NYG, Was), four AFC North opponents (Bal, Cle, Pit, Cin) along with four teams from the NFC West (49ers, Rams, Seahawks, Cardinals) as well as the Saints and Packers.

That’s some heavyweight quarterback play and a reason why some analysts and prognosticators believe the Eagles will have a hard time repeating as NFC East champions.

In the division, they’ll see Dak Prescott twice, along with the ever-improving Daniel Jones and Dwayne Haskins.

During the four-game AFC North jaunt, they’ll face the reigning NFL MVP, Lamar Jackson, along with games against Baker Mayfield, Ben Roethlisberger, and the No. 1 overall pick, Joe Burrow.

The NFC West will see the Eagles face Jimmy Garappolo, Russell Wilson, Jared Goff, and the electric Kyler Murray.

And finally, the Eagles will face two legendary signal-callers in Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers. Injuries happen in the NFL, but if all these guys are healthy, the Birds arguably ended up-facing five of the top-12 quarterbacks in the NFL this season.

With the virtual offseason progressing, we rank the quarterbacks on the Eagles 2020 NFL schedule.

13. Dwayne Haskins — Redskins

The Redskins selected Haskins with the 15th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and he started his rookie season off as an understudy to Case Keenum.

Haskins took over as the starter in Week 9 and started seven straight games before an injury forced him from a Week 16 matchup against the New York Giants.

A work in progress, Haskins had two games last season where he threw at least one touchdown and no interceptions, while failing to complete at least 60.0 percent of his pass attempts in four consecutive games.

His most effective game as a starter came during a Week 15 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in which Haskins threw for 261 yards and 2 touchdowns, including a 75-yard touchdown to Terry McLaurin.

12. Joe Burrow — Bengals

The No. 1 overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, Burrow is a better passer than Haskins at this point and we’ll have the benefit of the Bengals transitioning to the offense he ran at LSU, while also basking in the full support of an organization that confidently handed him the keys when they parted ways with Andy Dalton.

Burrow had what many consider to be the greatest individual season in college football history for a quarterback after he led LSU to a National Championship.  Burrow passed for over 5,600 yards with 60 touchdowns, the most in a single season in NCAA FBS history.

Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns

11. Baker Mayfield — Browns

The former No. 1 overall pick to a step back as a passer during the 2019 season, but should emerge thanks to new Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski.

Last season Mayfield threw 21 interceptions and only 22 touchdowns but after an offseason of positive change, the addition of Jedrick Wills Jr. at tackle and Odell Beckham returning, he should have a bounce-back season.

10. Daniel Jones — Giants

The successor to Eli Manning at quarterback, Jones gives Giants fans hope for the future and displayed the skills that have experts believing he’ll be a phenomenal pro in the Big Apple. year.

Jones finished his rookie season with 3,027 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, while completing 61.9 percent of his throws.

9. Jared Goff — Rams

The former No. 1 overall took a step back in 2019 after signing a monster extension and taking his team to the Super Bowl in 2018.  Goff passed for 4,638 yards on a league-leading 626 pass attempts.

The yards were for naught, as Goff tossed 22 touchdowns, matched by 16 interceptions.

8. Jimmy Garoppolo — 49ers

Jimmy-G led the 49ers to the Super Bowl after successfully rehabbing from a torn ACL suffered in 2018.  One of the NFL top passers on a juggernaut of an offense, Garoppolo finished the 2019 season with 3,978 passing yards, 27 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.

Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals

7. Kyler Murray — Cardinals

The former No. 1 overall pick made the right decision in spurning Major League Baseball to pursue his dreams of playing in the NFL.  Murray has energized the Cardinals fan base and he’s the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year.

The former Heisman Trophy winner completed 69.0% of his pass attempts for 4,361 yards, 42 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.  With DeAndre Hopkins in the fold, he could easily move up this list.

6.  Ben Roethlisberger — Steelers

Big Ben is still the man until otherwise noted, and this even after elbow surgery took him out of the 2019 season.  The 2018 version should provide Steelers fans with hope.  Two seasons ago, Roethlisberger led the NFL in pass attempts (675), completions (452), yards (5,129), and yards per game (320.6).

5.  Dak Prescott — Cowboys

Prescott will duel with Carson Wentz on two occasions this season and they’ll be must-watch TV.  Currently enthralled in a contract battle with his team, Prescott appears to worth his asking price after passing for 4,902 yards and 30 touchdowns in 2019.   Dak finished the season with a 99.7 passer rating, and the Cowboys went 8-8 and missed the playoffs.

He’ll return Amari Cooper on the outside and added a new weapon in CeeDee Lamb.

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

4. Aaron Rodgers — Packers

Still one of the best in the NFL, it feels like a slight to be placing him, Rodgers, at No. 4.   Even with all the chaos surrounding the Packers selection of Jordan Love, Rodgers is coming off one of his best NFL seasons.

A-Rod led the Packers to a 13-3 record after he threw for 4,002 yards, 26 touchdowns, and only four interceptions.

3. Drew Brees — Saints

The guy responsible for some Eagles heartbreak over the past few seasons,  Brees doesn’t seem to be slowing down despite missing five games with an injury.

In 2019, Brees made his thirteenth career Pro Bowl last season and had a 116.3 passer rating.

Brees passed for 2,979 yards, 27 touchdowns, and four interceptions while leading the Saints to the NFC South division title for the third straight season.

2. Lamar Jackson — Ravens

The reigning NFL MVP, Jackson just isn’t ready to be the top guy on this list but he’s been sensational regardless. In 2019, Jackson became the second quarterback in NFL history to run for over 1,000 yards, rushing for 1,206 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging a league-leading 6.9 yards per carry.

Jackson improved greatly as a passer as well, completing 66.1% of his pass attempts for 3,127 yards, a league-leading 36 touchdowns, and only six interceptions.

1. Russell Wilson — Seahawks

The man who does more with less on a weekly basis, Wilson is the real deal and the main reason Howie Roseman couldn’t pass up on Jalen Hurts.

Wilson led the Seahawks to another playoff birth, an 11-5 record and a Wild Card weekend win in Philadelphia. Wilson completed 66.1 percent of his pass attempts for 4,110 yards, 31 touchdowns, and only five interceptions.
