The XFL had its own little Twitter fashion show early this week. They released their uniforms and helmet designs. Since it’s a slow Saturday before one of the biggest NFL weekends of the year, let’s take a look and rank from best to worst.
When I first head the name Seattle Dragons, I got a bit of a chuckle. That is not the case anymore. The color scheme really works. The helmets have an awesome design where the dragon comes up from the bottom past the earhole. It’s just a cool overall design. Way to go Dragons!
The Defenders went with the classic toned down look with the lightning bolt as the shoulder design. The helmet is simple. The red is a nice crisp red and the white goes perfectly. It’s not as flashy as other designs, but that’s alright.
This is like a futuristic Patriots-Texans mashup. I am very confused as to what is going on, but that’s why I like it. The red and blue are a lot and are similar to the Texans’ red jerseys. The chrome helmet is cool though. The grey pants don’t do enough to match the bright shiny chrome of the helmet.
I’m trying to figure out if the Battle hawks are more purple or blue. It looks more purple on the helmet and blueish on the shirt. In any case, the front of the helmet logo is awesome. The pants are pretty typical but the color pop on the white jersey, white stripe on the pants. The shoulders are traditional.
That’s a whole lot of green for the Vipers. They could have done something cooler with the logo on the helmet. The whites are pretty sweet. It’s like some sort of always color-rush uniform for home and away.
This is boring. They look kind of like Ole Miss uniforms. New York apparently tried to straddle the line of cool and new-age with the helmet and traditional with the uniform.
I don’t know what I am looking at here. Why didn’t they go with a traditional blue and white Los Angeles uniform? This doesn’t fit with the city. It reminds me more of what I think Arizona uniforms would look like. The logo is boring. The color combination is meh.
What is going on here? It’s like the Titans jersey threw up and out came the Dallas Renegades jersey, but they didn’t want to be just like the Titans so they added a red stripe that doesn’t work with the color scheme.
