Ranking NFC North quarterbacks

4. Mitchell Trubisky, Bears

Trubisky led the Bears to an 11-3 record last season and his numbers in season No. 2 were greatly improved, throwing for 3,223 yards, 24 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while running for another 421 yards and three touchdowns.

It still seems like he’s a “don’t make mistakes” guy rather than a “make a big play” guy. And that’s OK because he’s only 24 years old.

Last season, Trubisky graded as Pro Football Focus’ 33rd-best quarterback. He’s on the third year of his rookie deal and is set to make $4.4 million in 2019, per Spotrac.

3. Matthew Stafford, Lions

The 2019 season was a rough one for Stafford statistically. He threw for 3,777 yards and 21 touchdowns, his lowest marks since the 2010 season when he played in just three games.

What’s worse is that the Lions won just six games and failed to make the playoffs, again.

At 31 years old, we are still asking the same questions with Stafford. Is it that the Lions aren’t putting enough talent around him? How good is Stafford?

Hopefully, we’ll get better answers from those questions in 2019. Stafford ranked as PFF’s 17th-best quarterback last season and he’s set to make $19.5 million in 2019.

2. Kirk Cousins, Vikings

If you had Stafford and Cousins flipped in your rankings, I can’t really blame you. But we’re a Vikings fan blog, so here we are, making the people happy.

The Vikings did not make the playoffs last season, the first with Cousins as quarterback. But it’s really hard to fault Cousins. He threw for 4,298 yards and 30 touchdowns behind a horrible offensive line.

The hopes in 2019 is that Cousins can prove he’s a quarterback who can lead a team to the postseason. That’s been the elephant in the room with Cousins throughout his career.

Cousins graded as PFF’s 15th-best quarterback in 2019 and is set to make $28 million this season.

1. Aaron Rodgers, Packers

Well, duh. Rodgers is the only quarterback to win a Super Bowl in this group and you could argue he is the most-talented quarterback in the entire NFL.

He has a lot to prove in 2019 after the Packers won just six games last season and missed out on the playoffs for the second-straight season. Rodgers threw for 4,442 yards, 25 touchdowns and just two interceptions.

Per PFF, Rodgers graded as the league’s fifth-best quarterback. He’ll make $15 million in 2019 at age 35.
