Former Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri has revealed his interest in returning to England and becoming the next manager of Newcastle.
Ranieri, who endured an unsuccessful spell at Valencia after leaving Stamford Bridge in 2004, is currently without a club but has not been contacted by club officials at St James's Park. "Newcastle is one of the best clubs in England. They are a good, ambitious team and that is very important for me. I am looking for another good job with a club who has ambition," said Ranieri.
"Newcastle is a good team, an ambitious team. It is one of the best clubs in England. I've worked in Italy, in Spain and in England, but at the top I put England. I love England because of the atmosphere and the fans."
Newcastle parted company with Graeme Souness earlier this month but have not formally approached a manager to take over, with Glenn Roeder currently in caretaker charge.
"I came from Italy yesterday and at the moment there is nothing," he added.
