Rangers academy prospect Conor Owen has opened up on how a pre-season speech from John 'Bomber' Brown helped him prepare for success at youth level.
The 16-year-old centre-back won the CAS Elite League with both the 17s and 19s squads, with his defensive performances attracting high praise.
Speaking to the Rangers Youth Development Company (RYDC), Owen spoke of Brown's influence in his young career. “Bomber spoke to us at the start of the season, and it was great to hear him talk about what it takes to succeed here.
“I was delighted to end the season by getting a medal and trophy from him. He is someone I look up to, and I want to play the game like him. Bomber was quite an aggressive player, and I am too, and he told me to keep that, but keep working on my quality as well.

“We are all good players, or we wouldn’t be at Rangers, but you need more than that. You need personality, character, and sometimes a bit of luck, so I will do everything I can to succeed here.
On the campaign as a whole, Owen continued, "It was a great season for the Academy, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I started with the 17s and stepped up to the 19s, and that was my main aim.
"I absolutely love being at Rangers, and I’ve enjoyed working with Malky [Thomson], the players, and staff at both age groups. I’m delighted with the progress I’ve made. I’m buzzing, and I just want to kick on now.
"It’s a shame the season has ended!"
