Rangers youngster Zak Rudden bags hat-trick as Scotland U-19s hammer Cyprus

Rangers starlet Zak Rudden was the star of the show as Scotland U-19s swept aside Cyprus U-19s.

The Ibrox youngster, on-loan at Falkirk this season, ran riot to give Billy Stark's side a comfortable UEFA Elite Round victory.

Club team-mate Glenn Middleton grabbed the other goal in a 4-0 to bring the young Scots a step closer to qualifying for the U-19 European Championship for only the second time in history.

Only the group winner progresses to to the finals but Scotland have now taken six points from six following an opening day win over Turkey.

Among the side who hammered Cyprus were Chelsea's Billy Gilmour and Celtic's Ewan Henderson.

Scotland haven't reached the U-19 Euros since 2006 when a squad including Graham Dorrans and Steven Fletcher went all the way to the final before losing out to a Spain team boasting Gerard Pique and Juan Mata.

This current U-19 crop are perhaps the most exciting Scots side in years.

From Rudden to Gilmour, there's also Rangers attacker Dapo Mebude, Hearts midfielder Harry Cochrane and Aberdeen's breakout star Dean Campbell.
