Rangers youngster Josh McPake joins Queen's Park on loan

RANGERS youngster Josh McPake has joined Queen's Park on a season-long loan.

The 20-year-old winger has made the switch to the Scottish Championship side for first-team football this season.

McPake had returned to Ibrox during pre-season but has headed out on loan once again after spells with Dundee, Morton, Harrogate, Morecambe and Tranmere Rovers.

The Scotland youth international will link up with Owen Coyle's ambitious side who are in the Championship after winning promotion through the play-offs.

McPake was thought to have serious interest from both Scotland and England with clubs including Hartlepool, Stevenage and Crawley credited with interest.

But McPake decided a switch to another of Glasgow's teams was right for him.

Commenting on the move, McPake said: "I am really looking forward to be joining and getting started with Queen’s Park.

"The project is really exciting and I’m looking forward to working under the experience of Owen Coyle, Marijn Beuker and the rest of the staff, to have a successful season.

"I have worked really hard in the break to come back in good shape and I enjoyed getting back in to Rangers after three loan spells down in England, playing senior football at a strong level.

"I’m now just looking forward to meeting the lads and getting going."

Coyle added: "We are delighted with the loan of Josh from Rangers.

"After three loan spells down south he was looking for a good club in Scotland.

"We have been in contact with him over the last few weeks and are very pleased that Josh has chosen our club to further develop.

"Josh has trained very well during these weeks, so he is in great shape to immediately make an impact in our team."
