Rangers youngster Chris McKee sent off while on-loan at Brechin for using 'homophobic language'

Rangers loanee Chris McKee was given his marching orders whilst playing for loan club Brechin City this afternoon, after allegedly using homophobic language.

The highly-rated Northern Ireland youth internationalist was dismissed just before half-time of the club’s crucial League Two play-off final at home to Barry Ferguson 's Kelty Hearts.

To compound things, Brechin were beaten 1-0 on the day, 3-1 on aggregate, and now drop through the relegation trap door and into the Highland League from next season.

McKee wasn't involved in a challenge that left Kelty 's Dylan Easton grounded for the visitors but was swiftly shown a straight red by the referee after 41 minutes, with the BBC confirming it was for 'foul and abusive language of a homophobic nature.'

The 19-year-old striker joined Rangers in 2018 and signed a new deal at Ibrox last November until 2022, but it remains to be seen what sort of impact today's events will have on his future.
