Rangers women's coach aiming to break Glasgow City's dominance

Rangers Women's team head coach Amy McDonald is hoping to break Glasgow City’s grip on the the SWPL title with their revamped squad.

The Ibrox outfit have been among the big-spending sides this winter as they look to build a bid for the top of the women’s game with former Scottish Premiership winner Gregory Vignal as manager.

Cambuslang native McDonald has been delighted with the recruitment as the Glasgow giants brought in 14 professional female footballers ahead of the new campaign.

She said that the club are aiming high in the hope of halting a 14th consecutive title for City and got the season off to a perfect start with a 2-1 win over Hearts.

“The aim will be to finish as high as we can,” she said.

“We want to have a relentless attitude and win as many games as possible.

“It will be even more competitive this season. We finished fourth last season and will be looking to do even better than that this time around.

“Glasgow City and Hibs have been dominant for years but hopefully we can push both those clubs.”
