Rangers winger Jordan Jones linked with Blackburn Rovers move

Rangers winger Jordan Jones is being linked with a move to Blackburn Rovers.

Rovers boss Tony Mowbray is understood to be a big fan of the Northern Ireland player.

The Daily Record reports that the former Celtic manager could be poised to make his move for Jones - potentially in a loan deal until the end of the season.

Mowbray worked briefly with Jones during their time at Middlesbrough.

Jones - who only sealed a big move to boyhood club Rangers in the summer - hasn't played since suffering a knee injury in the 2-0 defeat to Celtic at Ibrox back in September.

The 25-year-old was sent off following a wild lunge on Moritz Bauer late in the game.

That saw Jones miss a significant chunk of the Scottish Premiership season, and the end of Northern Ireland's Euro 2020 qualifying campaign.

But now he is back from injury and has featured on the bench in recent weeks for Steven Gerrard's side.

Gerrard recently warned Jones he must do everything to convince if he’s to feature prominently in the second half of the season.

Gerrard said: “This was a huge move for Jordan. It was a move he had his eye on for a long time, so for it to come and then for him to miss a big chunk already, he’s got it all to do.

"He needs to make up for lost time.”
