Rangers will have to beat off teams from the top leagues in Europe to land Croatian striker Mirko Maric.
Record Sport revealed the Ibrox club are scouting the NK Osijek frontman as they weigh up a £3million summer bid.
Maric, 23, has been capped twice for his country and is the leading marksman in his homeland this season with 16 goals.
Osijek sporting director Alen Petrovic revealed his form in front of goal has alerted a string of suitors, including Rangers, from across the Continent.
However, Osijek are refusing to deal for now as they close in on a Europa League spot - and they may not even sell at all as Maric still has three years to run on his current contract.
Petrovic said: “There is interest in the player from many countries such as the UK, including England, Italy and Germany.

“Significant interest in the player is only to be expected when he is the top goalscorer in the league.
“However, we still have five rounds left to play in our domestic championship and all our focus is on securing a European spot for next season.
“Any player of Mirko’s style would be a force in another country, but we don’t even know yet if we will sell him this summer or not.
“I can confirm he’s an excellent player, an elegant number nine who is as comfortable scoring goals as linking up the play around him.
“That’s all we’re willing to say at the moment. There have been no official moves made as yet and that suits us as we concentrate on finishing our season with a place in the Europa League.”
