Rangers vs Motherwell rescheduled at the last minute as clubs wait for test results

Rangers' friendly with Motherwell was dramatically pushed back just minutes before kick-off due to a problem with coronavirus testing.

The match had been due to kick-off at 6pm on Wednesday night, but with 15 minutes to go there had been no team news and the players were not out for the pre-match warm-up.

That led to all sorts of speculation from fans, before it was confirmed that the match had been pushed back to 8pm.

Both Rangers and Motherwell were awaiting the results of the Covid-19 tests that are necessary for games to go ahead.

The Steelmen announced: "Kick-off for our match with Rangers will now be 8pm.

"The game will be streamed as planned.

"As things stand, both clubs are waiting for the outcome of some of their Covid-19 tests but have been told that we will receive them prior to kick off."

The move comes after Hibs were forced to cancel a friendly with Ross County when their own coronavirus tests were not returned in time.

Celtic have also seen their pre-season preparations hammered by the pandemic, as doubts over travel meant a proposed game with Dundalk looks set to be called off, with Derry City replacing the Irish champions.
