Rangers vs Celtic score predictions as our writers reckon Scottish Cup clash will go down to wire

An Old Firm Scottish Cup clash is always memorable and Sunday's fixture should not be any different.

Celtic travel to Ibrox as they look to salvage something from a dismal season, while Rangers will be confident they can notch another win over their rivals en route to the Double.

If this season's encounters between the two sides is anything go by, it should be another close one to call.

But we've got our crystal balls at the ready as we try and predict how this one is going to go.

Mark McDougall - @McDougallSport

John Kennedy reckons Celtic are still the best team in the country, but Rangers have proven over the season they really are the top dogs.

Decisions over the fitness of both James Forrest and James Tavernier could have a big say on the game if either are fit for their respective teams.

Both sides are filled with attacking talent so it will likely come down to which defence holds out the strongest, and with Allan McGregor in goals for Rangers - they have a clear advantage.

Extra time and penalties are an option here, and this one could go past 90 minutes.

Prediction - Rangers 2 Celtic 1 (AET)

Chris Doyle - @bychrisdoyle

Celtic's performances in the previous two derbies show they are more than a match for the Ibrox side despite their horrible campaign.

The Hoops were by far the better side on both occasions and, even though it's a concern they weren't able to get over the line, all they can do is keep knocking on the door.

Celtic's poor finishing and inability to defend set-pieces are what cost them at Parkhead last time out, but there is a feeling they have tidied up both those areas as Mohamed Elyounoussi rounds into form, while Kris Ajer is excelling at the other end of the pitch.

Rangers are unbeaten in the league for a reason, however, so Celtic can't afford to bring anything but their brilliant best.

It will be a tight game, but I reckon Celtic will edge out the Light Blues in extra time with the absence of Ryan Jack proving decisive.

Prediction: Rangers 1 Celtic 2 (AET)
