Rangers v Hamilton: Accies to make new signings ahead of Ibrox visit

Hamilton Accies boss Brian Rice hopes to add three new players to his squad this week - and a couple of them could sign before Sunday's clash with Rangers.

Rice's squad has been decimated by injury with midfielder Charlie Trafford and wingers David Templeton and Kyle Munro ruled out long term, while Ronan Hughes and Jamie Hamilton will also miss Sunday's trip to Ibrox.

Earlier this week Rice feared it would be January before he could strengthen his squad, but the Accies boss is on the verge of landing three new stars by next week.

And Lanarkshire Live Sport understands the club could have two new faces on board before Sunday.

Speaking at his press conference this afternoon ahead of the Rangers game, Rice also praised the board for helping him out in their time of need.

He said: "I'm hoping we will have two or three players added to the squad.

"We are always looking to add to the squad, especially at this time because we are down to the bare bones.

"And we've got a lot of games coming up between now and December 30, so hopefully we have two or three new players in the squad by this time next week.

"Things change, people become available that you didn't know would be available.

"These players aren't going to be up to speed right now, but in two or three weeks' time they will be.

"And I'm hoping that the ones we bring in are a massive help to us.

"The board are aware of with the situation with injuries and what can happen with Covid when we get testing down, especially when you are getting twice a week as we have when there's a double chance of people not being available.

"They've been very supportive as they always have been.

"They realise that the lads need a hand and I need numbers in the squad so they've been very helpful."
