Rangers ultras spark '55' Ibrox title party as smoke bombs and pyro fill the sky

Rangers Ultras have started off a potential weekend Premiership title party with a pyro and smoke bomb display outside Ibrox.

Steven Gerrard's men will be crowned champions if they defeat St Mirren at Ibrox on Saturday and Celtic fail to win away to Dundee United on Sunday.

Expectation is building ahead of a first league title success in a decade with and it follows a similar display at the Tony Macaroni Arena on Wednesday.

Police are also attendance with a significant number of supporters at Ibrox as they salute Gerrard's team ahead of clash with the Buddies.

Scotland remains under strict lockdown measures amid the pandemic with supporters from different households not allowed to congregate under Government guidelines.

It comes after several flares were removed from the pitch against Livingston as smoke engulfed the stadium in the 55th minute.

Rangers boss Gerrard has urged supporters to heed warnings in the coming weeks as supporters across the country toast trophy success.

He said: “I think there are two sides to this (the fireworks against Livingston).

"It’s fantastic to see the fans back smiling and in a good place. The fans have been through a lot at this football club and if anyone deserves to be in a good place at the moment and really excited and dreaming it’s our support.

“At the same time, they’ve just got to be careful because things were coming on to the pitch, the fireworks were dropping on to the pitch.

"By all means enjoy it and really enjoy this moment and this time, of course, but I don’t want my players dodging fireworks while the game’s going on, that’s for sure.”
