Rangers U18s follow in Steven Gerrard and the first team's footsteps as Ibrox young guns deliver title

Rangers Under-18s followed in the footsteps of Steven Gerrard and the first team by clinching the league title on Saturday afternoon.

The Ibrox kids required just a point towards the end of the Club Academy Scotland league season when they took on St Mirren at the Rangers Training Centre.

But a 3-1 victory put the title beyond any doubt against the Paisley opposition who also had a shout at shocking their Govan opponents to win the title.

Charlie Lindsay, who joined Rangers from Northern Irish side Glentoran in the summer, struck the opener before Arron Lyall and Rory Wilson added to the lead in the second half.

It means David McCallum's young stars will return to the UEFA Youth League for the third season running.

Meanwhile Ibrox youth graduate Nathan Patterson insists it's a surreal feeling to be preparing for Euro 2020 with Scotland having watched the senior side qualify while he was away with the Under-21s.

He said: "It's mad. When we were with the 21s we were watching the boys qualify.

"It's been great, a dream come true to be a Scotland 'A' player. But now I'm here.

"It's been good meeting all the boys. They've been great with me.

"I've been sitting having a chat with a few of them, getting to know them. It's been great."
