Rangers transfer target Marijan Cabraja turns down lucrative move as sporting director gives update on future

Rangers target Marijan Cabraja has turned down a move to MLS side Austin FC, according to Gordica's sporting director.

The Croatian rising star has been linked with a switch to Ibrox in January with the left-back claiming Rangers have been in contact with him as a potential replacement for Borna Barisic.

Cabraja has knocked back teams from Italy and Poland as he weighs up his options.

And Gordica chief Mindaugas Nikolicius says the former Dinamo Zagreb man has rejected an approach from MLS new boys Austin FC.

Mindaugas Nikolicius said: "It is normal to receive offers for our players.

"Marijan Cabraja has just turned down the chance to sign for Austin FC in the USA and we have had offers for three other players too from various clubs."

Cabraja stated earlier this month: "It is true that Rangers are following me, contact has been established but it all depends on how the situation with Borna Barisic develops."

And his agent, Miroslav Bicanic, added: "I can confirm that there are a lot of enquiries for Cabraja.

"Right now it's difficult to say what will happen but there is interest in Cabraja every day."
