Rangers transfer strategy outlined by Steven Gerrard as Ibrox boss expects more new arrivals

Steven Gerrard says he anticipates more incomings at Rangers this summer, but says he's only looking at players who can strengthen his starting team.

The Ibrox boss has already secured the signature of Ianis Hagi on a permanent deal, young defender Calvin Bassey and, most recently, goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin.

And Gerrard says a small number of quality additions are what's required this summer, rather than a large number of new faces to strengthen the size of the squad.

He said: "I do anticipate more signings. I think we have to be patient. It's going to be a different window, if you like. It could to be a longer window.

"We need to make sure that we're right when we do make the move, and we're going for the right type of player.

"I don't anticipate us making lots of signings in terms of trying to make the squad bigger. It's more trying to identify players who will come in to make the eleven stronger.

"So yes, we will make more signings but we have to make sure these are the right type of signings to make us better."
