Rangers have been linked with a move for American midfielder James Sands as Gio van Bronckhorst looks to add some versatility to his squad in January.
The Ibrox side have been linked with a few names in recent days and remain interested in Spanish midfielder Pablo Torre.
And it seems midfield is an area of concern with reports now linking New York City youngster Sands with a move to Glasgow.
The powerful midfielder can also cover centre-back, and with the MLS season over for the winter, it's claimed by Tuttomercatoweb that Rangers want to bring him in on loan with an option to buy.
He's already an established USMNT international and MLS champion at 21 years old and may be known to Van Bronckhorst from his time under the City Football Group umbrella.
It's the latest youngster linked with Rangers to go with the likes of Xavi Simons, Pedro Torre and Francis Amuzu.
Meanwhile, it's claimed in Italy that Aaron Hickey is a target for former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa.
The Bologna full-back, formerly of Hearts, was a rumoured target of Gerrard's while he was at Ibrox, though it's Celtic who have had the more concrete interest in recent weeks.
Tuttosport say that former Gers boss Gerrard remains a big fan though and is keen to bring him to Aston Villa.
That comes as Nathan Patterson, who was also linked with a switch to Villa Park, is back in the crosshairs of Everton.
The Toffees seem determined to land him despite their £5m bid being thrown out in the summer and they are expected to return with an improved bid of up to £12m.
Opinion is split on whether that one would be the right move from Rangers' perspective, but with James Tavernier going nowhere in the time being, it could test the club's resolve and how much they value the Scotland rising star.
