Rangers transfer news round up as Zinedine Ferhat race heats up amid Marseille interest

Nimes midfielder Zinedine Ferhat is set to stay in France this summer despite reported interest from Rangers.

The minnows were relegated from Ligue 1 last season but Ferhat produced a number of eye-catching displays in Ligue 1 last term.

Reports claimed that Steven Gerrard and Ross Wilson has the playmaker on their wishlist this summer ahead of the crucial Champions League qualifiers.

However, TER report that Marseille are now leading the race for his signature this summer.

The midfielder has had a nomadic career with six loans from his boyhood club Everton before a two year spell at Oxford United brought him to the attention of Sheffield United.

He has excelled under Chris Wilder and was a stand-out during his maiden bash at the Premier League last season.

His form dipped this term with uncertainty over his dwindling contract as his side were relegated from the English top flight.

Having left ahead of the Championship campaign, Elfvoetbal claim that clubs in the Eredivise tracking his status.

However, the report notes that Rangers are in "pole position" to sign the 27-year-old.

Elsewhere, misfit winger Jake Hastie looks to be out of the first team picture at this stage in pre-season.

Having struggled for game time on loan at Motherwell last season, Hastie was included in the B team fixture against Edinburgh City.

The 22-year-old has spent most of his Ibrox career shipped out on loan spells, having also spent time at Rotherham in English League One.
