Rangers transfer news round up as two Ibrox 'targets' slip into the distance amid contract calls

How do you keep a winning team winning?

That's the task that surrounds Rangers this summer as they look for evolution not revolution in the knowledge that if they can accomplish a similar season to last they'll be untouchable no matter what changes take place across the city..

Steven Gerrard's squad is in good shape and two signings are in the door already with the pre-contract arrivals of Fashion Sakala and Nnamdi Ofoborh.

But as the club have repeatedly admitted player sales are looking like an inevitability.

Alfredo Morelos has been strongly linked to Porto - the Portuguese press already reckon that deal is done and dusted - while speculation surrounds Glen Kamara's future.

The Finland international is set to return after shining for his country at their first ever tournament in Euro 2020 and there could be some calls to field after three solid group stage performances.

Coincidentally, the Premiership champions have been linked to a number of midfielders and one of them is Germany Under-21 international Salih Ozcan.

His deal with Bundesliga side FC Koln is set to run out and the club appeared previously resigned to losing him for nothing.

But after a change in leadership at the club new manager Steffen Baumgart isn't ready to give up on a young talent and the two parties are back in conversation over a new deal.

Koln sporting director Jorg Jakobs said: "Talks are ongoing.

"Both sides can well imagine (a contract extension). Now we have to see if we can reach an agreement."

It's also seemingly a similar story on the other side of the world with another reported Ibrox target.

Rafael Santos Borre, one of Morelos' Colombia team-mates and for now a free agent, is reportedly set to re-sign at River Plate.

The 25-year-old will double his salary by penning a new contract at the Buenos Aires giants, claim Colombia's Blu Radio.

It's also said to include a release clause but it's likely that could be out of reach for the Govan club.
