Rangers transfer news round up as Joe Aribo 'attracts interest' from mystery Premier League club

Joe Aribo has attracted interest from a Premier League club, according to reports.

The Rangers star missed Saturday’s pre-season friendly against Arsenal - and Allnigeriasoccer.com claims that an unnamed English top-flight side have 'concrete interest' in the midfielder.

However, the Nigerian sports website claims Aribo missing the game had nothing to do with a potential exit from Rangers - having instead picked up a knock in training.

It’s claimed that the London-born player has always dreamed of playing in the Premier League and "could soon realise his ambition".

The Nigeria international has impressed since joining Rangers from Charlton Athletic in the summer of 2019.

The 24-year-old scored eight goals and notched seven assists as Steven Gerrard 's men went on to lift the Scottish Premiership trophy, and that was despite having spent a period out injured early on in the campaign.

Meanwhile, Liverpool forward Taiwo Awoniyi - who was previously linked with a move to Rangers - is set to complete a £6.5m move to German side Union Berlin, according to the Liverpool Echo.

A medical for Awoniyi is scheduled to take place later today.

Last season the Nigerian striker turned out for Union Berlin, scoring five goals and laying on four assists in 22 games.

Both Rangers and Celtic were linked to Awoniyi in January by 90min.com with the Gers being mentioned alongside the player once again this summer.
