Rangers transfer news latest as Cameron Archer's options shrink and Jack Simpson wait goes on

The transfer window is well under way, but still only the one first team arrival at Rangers so far.

John Souttar was the solo new face at Ibrox until today with business on the slow side in Govan. However, they have made a further youth signing in the shape of 16-year-old Inverness CT winger Kieron Willox. The Highland club confirmed the youngster's exit as he joins the Europa League finalists' youth ranks. Rising Milwall star Zak Lovelace will also likely take the development path to start.

After the welcome news that Allan McGregor, Steven Davis, Connor Goldson and Scott Arfield were all staying on beyond the end of last season, attention has now turned to fresh faces. They’ve had to be patient though as Ross Wilson and Giovanni van Bronckhorst attempt to land incomings A striker seems to be at the top of the transfer wishlist and several have been linked with a move to Govan. Reports that the Scottish Cup winners were set to make a move for Norwegian front man and Erling Haaland’s best mate Erik Botheim proved to be wide of the mark. And the 22-year-old is now being linked with a switch to Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Antonio Colak remains a live option and is likely to leave PAOK this summer, with Glasgow thought to be his preferred destination. A fee of £2.5million is thought to be the magic number as far as the Greek club are concerned, although Rangers face further Turkish competition with Fenerbahce said to be keen.

Aston Villa’s Cameron Archer is another among the mix. He spent the second part of last season on loan at Preston North End, but is unlikely to return to Deepdale for the coming campaign. Rory Wilson will head to Birmingham from Glasgow after a £350,000 fee was agreed between the clubs.

Forgotten man Jack Simpson is looking for a way out after falling completely out of the picture. The centre back was linked with Birmingham City, but it’s now being reported that the Blues will not try and sign the former Bournemouth man.
