Rangers' interest in Racing Santander starlet Pablo Torre continues but Real Sociedad could have an edge in signing the teenager, according to Spanish media reports.
The Basque side has joined the race for 18-year-old Torre with Real Madrid and Valencia also understood to be keen.
La Razon, however, now claim La Real have joined the race - and their B team setup could give them an edge.
Unlike Valencia and even Madrid, Sociedad have a second 'B' side in La Liga Smartbank, the second tier of Spanish football.
And that fallback option would allow Torre to play at a higher level than the Primera División RFEF, the new third-tier league he currently stars in for Racing, even if he's initially placed into the reserves, unless the B team succumb to relegation.
It's a big draw for the Spain Under-19 internationalist even compared to the European platform Rangers could provide and Sociedad also love handing opportunities to B team talents, such as two stars of this season in Mikel Oyarzabal and Robin Le Normand.
Torre's release clause - every player in Spain has one by law - is understood to be at around £4 million, and Racing are desperate for cash.
He's one of several young talents Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been linked with, including New York City's James Sands, Xavi Simons of PSG and Leeds winger Crysencio Summerville.
Sands looks set to become the manager's first signing since taking the helm at Ibrox.
