Peterborough chairman Barry Fry has claimed Rangers are keeping a close eye on free-scoring striker Jonson Clarke-Harris.
The 26-year-old has been a revelation this season with Posh and has netted 27 goals in all competitions since his arrival from Bristol Rovers last summer.
He was secured as former Celtic target Ivan Toney 's successor before he headed to Brentford, where he has continued his own impressive goal record.
Steven Gerrard and Ross Wilson are looking to build from a position of strength after romping to the Premiership title.
Clarke-Harris has Peterborough dreaming of promotion and he grabbed a hat-trick on Saturday in the 7-0 romp over Accrington.

And Fry says Rangers were among the sides who were in attendance as the Leicester-born forward continued his brilliant campaign.
He told Peterborough Today: “We want promotion this season so there’s no way we would have let him go. It was the same situation with Ivan Toney last season.
“We could have sold him in January, but we were never going to. The owners have done great to resist cashing in at a time when football clubs are struggling financially.

“Rangers have been to a lot of our matches this season and they were there on Saturday. Sheffield United were also there, but West Brom weren’t.
“I didn’t have a conversation about Jonson with any of them though.
“Like with Ivan, we don’t have a single concern that transfer talk will affect Jonson. He is single-minded and his focus is entirely on winning promotion with us.
“He’s a humble man who constantly gives the praise to his team-mates.”
