Rangers transfer news as Danilho Doekhi 'tracked' for pre-contract swoop amid Connor Goldson stalemate

In-demand Danilho Doekhi is reportedly being tracked by Rangers as he enters the final six months of his contract.

The Vitesse Arnhem defender has been a long-term Ibrox link and looks unlikely to pen a new deal in the Eredivise.

Dutch outlet De Gelderlander state that the Premiership champions, Dinamo Zagreb, and Napoli are keeping tabs on the 23-year-old.

Gio van Bronckhorst could be lining up Doekhi as a replacement for Connor Goldson, who is also nearing the end of his current contract.

Coach Thomas Letsch admitted the club would be willing to sell the defender in the winter window if a "fair price" is paid.

But with the club battling in the league, domestic cup and Europa Conference League Letsch is in no rush to let his captain leave.

He said: "I recognise the importance of the individual player, but I also need a wide selection (within the squad).

“We are active on three fronts. We must have occupied all positions well.”

Doekhi rose through the ranks at Excelsior before impressing the scouts at Ajax's world-renowned academy and playing in their B team.

He signed a four year deal at Vitesse in 2018 and was appointed as club captain in the summer.
