Rangers transfer news as Danilho Doekhi's thinking revealed plus Jack Simpson suitors make intentions clear

Vitesse Arnhem boss Thomas Letsch is expecting star defender Danilho Doekhi to boost his bank balance when he leaves his current club.

The 23-year-old, who is the Vitesse skipper, is a wanted man with Rangers and PSV Eindhoven both keen on securing his services.

He is a player Gio van Bronckhorst knows well from their shared time in the Dutch top flight.

The Eredivisie side have set an asking price of £2million for now but Doekhi could well remain in place for a side with designs of going far in the Conference League.

And their boss Thomas Letsch admits he's keen to see what comes next for his standout defender and Riechedly Bazoer.

Speaking to GLD, Letsch said: "I'm curious what will happen (to both players).

"If the results are good, it always generates more interest from players.

"There are offers coming. Some may get higher salaries."

And any potential arrival at the heart of the defence could allow Jack Simpson to leave Rangers either on loan or a permanent deal.

Middlesbrough are among a trio of suitors, that also include Swansea and QPR, and Riverside boss Chris Wilder is targeting improvements before the window closes.

He said: "There is still a lot of work to be done though, and there is no shortcuts in terms of getting these deals done. You have to go through the process and you’ve got to do the dance, which we will do.

“And hopefully by the time the window shuts people will look and believe Middlesbrough have had a good window there.

“And through that period we need to pick up some good points before moving on to the second part of the season in good knick, with the group looking better than it did before the window opened.”

John Souttar 's future remains a hot topic and his current club Hearts can breathe easier as fellow stopper Craig Halkett closes in on a new long-term deal at Tyncecastle.

It remains to be seen if Halkett's future could have a direct effect on what happens with the Scotland international before the window closes.
