Rangers transfer news and morning headlines as club target another Leicester City defender

Right back on the radar

Rangers are reportedly interested in securing the signature of another Leicester City full-back, just a day or so after announcing the signing of Calvin Bassey.

The Daily Record reports that Ibrox club are among the clubs hoping to sign 18-year-old right-back Dennis Gyamfi.

The defender, who is out of contract at the end of June, has apparently been attracting attention from the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal.

Duo return in time to beat quarantine

Borna Barisic and Nikola Katic have returned to Glasgow ahead of the new 14-day quarantine rule being introduced, meaning they are free to join their teammates on the first day of Rangers training later this week.

Players will return to the training ground later this week but sessions will players forced to stick to small groups and generally avoid indoor areas.

Backing for reconstruction plans?

Rangers league reconstruction plans are reported to have the backing of Hearts owner Ann Budge.

According to the Record, the Jambos chief would be prepared to vote in favour of the 14-14-18 league structure, with Rangers and Celtic B teams able to enter the bottom division with a buy-in.

The plan would also see Hearts avoid the drop, and remain in the top flight as one of 14 teams.

The Ibrox club wrote to every club in the SPFL last week with details of the proposal, and are reported to be keen to move things forward towards a vote.
