Rangers transfer news: Alex McLeish on the Ryan Kent dilemma Ibrox club could face in coming weeks

Former Rangers boss Alex McLeish says the club could face a Ryan Kent transfer dilemma in the coming weeks if a Premier League side ups the ante.

Kent was the subject of a £10million bid from Leeds United earlier this summer, although Rangers turned this down and say they are determined to keep their man.

Reports suggest Leeds could be set to return with an improved offer, and McLeish reckons there will be a "melting point" at which the Ibrox club have no option but to give in.

He told Football Insider: "There’s always a price, there’s no doubt about that, there’s always a price and you know the Premier League, it’s all powerful.

“We were talking about everyone being bankrupt after COVID-19 but the prices are still getting bandied about and if the ante goes up, there will obviously be a melting point that Rangers would probably find difficult to refuse.

“Ryan's probably been empowered by the fact that there are teams out there looking at him as well, Leeds United in the Premier League now.

“I think he’s pledged his allegiances to Rangers in the meantime but you saw what he did at Celtic Park last season and if he plays to that level, the expectations will be on him to give that level every single game."
