Rangers transfer latest as Crystal Palace 'make Alfredo Morelos contact'

It's not often you can say Alfredo Morelos is flying under the radar.

The 22-year-old Rangers striker's two-year spell in Glasgow has been eventful, to say the least.

Morelos can thrill and exasperate in equal measure. His 30-goal haul under Steven Gerrard last season showcased his brilliant skills.

But the Colombian had his manager tearing his hair out with a host of petulant acts that resulted in five red cards.

The forward has plenty of admirers. Borussia Dortmund, Nice, Marseille and Newcastle have all been credited with an interest in his services.

The club's managing director Stewart Robertson admitted earlier this year that his side would be looking for a fee similar to the £19.8million Celtic received for Moussa Dembele...if he was to leave.

Rangers are in no rush to lose their top marksmen, that's for sure, but a concrete offer could change Morelos' situation.

And now a new name has entered the mix.

Crystal Palace are said to be keen and a report from Rincon Escoces claims the player's representatives have contacted the Ibrox side to make them aware of the Selhurst Park side's interest.

Roy Hodgson is in the market for a new striker after Michy Batshuayi returned to Chelsea after a successful loan spell last season.

And Palace could have a bumper transfer kitty if £40milllion-rated Wilfried Zaha leaves the Eagles this summer, with Arsenal keen on the Ivory Coast international.

Meanwhile, Rangers defender Ross McCrorie has sealed a switch to Portsmouth on a season-long loan deal.

The League One side battled off late interest from Sunderland to secure the services of the versatile midfielder.
