Rangers transfer latest as Bayern Munich and USA starlet a 'target' and 'open' to Ibrox move

Rangers have targeted a transfer swoop for Bayern Munich and USA international Malik Tillman, according to a report.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has stepped up his summer recruitment drive in the past week adding Antonio Colak from PAOK and Tom Lawrence on a free transfer having already secured the pre-contract signing of John Souttar from Hearts earlier this year. The Dutchman has stated he would like to get a couple more fresh faces in the door with attacking midfielder Tillman on the wanted list, reports the Daily Mail.

The 20-year-old featured four times in the past year for the German giants but is believed to be open to joining last season's Europa League finalists with the prospect of tasting more top team action. He has two caps for the USA national team to date and started his career with Greuther Furth before joining Bayern's youth set-up. It's reported that Rangers want to bring him in on a permanent deal as they continue to boost their ranks ahead of the new campaign.

Celtic won the Premiership title from the Ibrox side last season and they will be going all out to reclaim the league crown while also aiming to make a splash in the Champions League.

Rangers enter at the third qualifying round of the competition and have two, two-legged ties to negotiate if they are to mix it with Europe's big boys in the tournament proper.

The competitive football returns for the Light Blues at the end of the month as they travel to the Tony Macaroni Arena to face Livingston in their league opener.

Another player who could be heading in the door is Wales international Rabbi Matondo from Schalke.

The 21-year-old winger moved to Germany in 2019 for a massive £11million fee and has played for the likes of Cardiff City, Manchester City, Stoke City and Cercle Brugge in recent times.
