Kris Boyd has detailed the reasons why Derek McInnes is the "right man" to lead Rangers, following his appointment as manager.
The ex-Hearts boss was confirmed as Danny Rohl's replacement on Wednesday evening, immediately taking over from the German, who joined Red Bull Salzburg in Austria.

Speaking to Sky Sports, former Rangers striker Boyd heaped praise on McInnes, who has been tasked with steering the Ibrox side back to winning silverware. "Why is he the right man? I think we have a tendency in Scottish football to overlook our coaches.
"When you look at what Derek has done, even his Aberdeen team caused problems to Celtic for a number of years. He built something at Aberdeen, and you only need to look at what was there before him and then what's happened after.
"That stability he had at Aberdeen… then he's gone to Hearts and inside a year, nobody thought that Hearts were going to throw down the challenge that they did. They finished second, but when you look at Derek, there's been a lot made of Jamestown Analytics, and rightly so, but he’s stuck to his principles a lot of the time.

"When you look at his team, the way it was set up and the way they went about their business, it tells me he's confident in his own ability; he's not depending on anybody else."
Boyd continued, "I think when you become the Rangers manager, that’s something you need to have: rhino skin. Because you’re going to have critics; you're going to get criticised right, left, and centre.
"But you also have to have strong beliefs in what you're trying to implement, and I think over a period of time, Derek McInnes has been able to do that in Scotland now."
